OCDF Orphan Support
Our Chinese Daughters Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is committed to improving the lives of orphans living in China. OCDF has programs that allow you to give to a specific orphanage, as well as support our established projects designed especially to assist non-government sponsored orphanages, which depend upon private support from their local community and abroad in order to provide the best possible care for children living there. OCDF particularly seeks out orphanages that take in special needs children, or are located in remote areas of China, making it difficult for those institutions to obtain proper medical care or school supplies.

OCDF Orphan Support Programs
Coal for Kids
This program supports non-government orphanages with heating and supplies. Currently we provide for 6 orphanagages in Hebei Province and Shanxi Province. Each year we raise $25-35,000 to heat these orphanages. Donations are critical to keeping children warm in winter months. Our fundraising goal for this critical project is $30,000 for this year.
Go to the Coal for Kids page for more information, or download our Coal for Kids flier (PDF). If you'd like to donate to this project online, please visit our Orphan Support Donation page. Help OCDF convert Coal for Kids to "Solar for Kids": we want to retrofit with solar systems. Join this effort!!
900 Backpacks
This program was designed to support AIDS Orphans in Henan Province who are currently in foster care and school intervention programs. Donations go toward providing children with backpacks and school supplies needed to attend school each year in China.
There are over 100,000 children left orphaned when their parents died of HIV-AIDS with our projection that 250,000 children will be orphaned. They need school supplies and hope for the future. Education is their only chance!
Go to the 900 Backpacks page for more information, or download our 900 Backpacks flier (PDF). If you'd like to donate to this project online, please visit our Orphan Support Donation page.
Building on Dreams
OCDF heard the story about one farmer and his wife who decided to take in special needs orphans after their only son died in a car crash. When we discovered the father had died while building an addition to their home, we knew we needed to help. In 2006, donations and volunteer effort finished the orphanage for special needs children near Xuanhua. Construction was completed in the summer of 2006 in collaboration with BICCO, and our support of this new orphanage is an ongoing project). Go to the Building on Dreams page for more information, or download our Building on Dreams flier (PDF) to read the story of one farmer's dream! This program provides eyecare and school supplies for Tibetan orphans. OCDF works in collaboration with a medical relief organization serving The Kham District to provide support to approximately 150 children. Because of the high altitudes these children get cataracts, some by the age of 14. This project provides eyecare, surgeries, and eye protection to children in two remote orphanages (a 3-day drive on mountainous roads from Chengdu). School supplies are also needed along with medical and teaching staff. Download our See the Stars flier (PDF) for more information. If you'd like to donate to this project online, please visit our Orphan Support Donation page.Support an Orphanage of Your Choice
OCDF provides two programs that allow donors to specify which orphanage the funds will go to, and even specific children within those institutions, Orphanage Care Packages and School Sponsorships.
The Orphanage Care Packages program allows donors to provide a care package for a specific orphanage. The care package is bundled in Beijing to make supporting these orphanages both easier and more cost-efficient (no shipping abroad expenses!). The care packages are sent directly to the orphanage from our Beijing office, or to your hotel for you to deliver personally, if you are planning to make an orphanage visit during or after a tour. Download our Orphanage Care Package flier (PDF) for more information. If you'd like to donate to this project online, please visit our Orphan Support Donation page.
School Sponsorships enable children living in orphanages to attend public school, or a better school than they might be assigned from the orphanage, thus enabling them to meet children outside of the institution and make life-long friends with families. Education is their best predictor of success in the future. School Sponsorships can also be used to arrange music lessons or dance lessons for talented children. Some children need even the most basic school supplies, clothing to wear to school, shoes, or eyes exams and glasses. All of this and more can be arranged through OCDF's School Sponsor Program. Please download our School Sponsor flier (PDF) to learn more. If you'd like to donate to this project online, please visit our Orphan Support Donation page.
Special Projects
OCDF also provides support for special projects or cases of outstanding need that come to our attention, from providing emergency medical treatment to helping other orphanages suffering from lack of funds to provide care for their charges. We have also helped families and adoption groups wishing to fundraise for special projects for specific orphanages. All of our current special projects have reached their goals.
